Most people in the world
have found refuge in expressing their feelings, views and emotions through
talent. This has been widely showcased in the Zimbabwean context where we see
the relevance of art and culture through talent for example in the small
City-hall area in Bulawayo. The place has largely performed relevance to most
citizens who find it entertaining to actually use anything to make clothes,
jewelry and other cultural monuments.

From the image above, I am obliged to appreciate art in an entertaining way because as a young women I believe this has given us a platform to express our relevance in a patriarchal
society. I can easily relate to myself as a contestant for miss NUST where we
are given an opportunity to recycle anything and design an Avante Garde outfit.
To me this has been so fun and interesting as well because it has helped me
express myself in anyway because I now believe that nothing is useless as one
can make something from anything that has been thrown away.
MUSIC
Music has been a wide
spread performance of entertainment in the world at large which has also pushed
for talent shows like America's got talent. Here in Zimbabwe there used to be a
program called Star bright which offered a platform for everyone to use their
voice in competition which was at the same time entertaining as different vocal
talents were given room of exposure through television. However, its a pity
that Zimbabwe is is no longer supportive to local talents in terms of music
because even Star bright has been closed. Upcoming artists are no longer seen
on television but instead we are seeing artists who have long made it to the
music industry. Therefore, as a youth I wish we could be given that
platform again so that this young generation is well groomed for the industry.
This would benefit artists who are born into doing music because if they are
not supported their future is derailed.
